IMPACTITE from Kansas
Recently determined to be impact craters in origin, the area south of Dodge City, Kansas, is called Big Basin. These craters have been determined to be between 80,000 - 100,000 years old. A copy of the Oklahoma Geological Survey documentation will be furnished with each specimen. We obtained only five fragments of this material from a geologist working in the area. These specimens are associated with the main crater. Prices are $3.00 per gram for the 7, 35, and 71 gram pieces: $2.50 for the 155 and 200 gram pieces; and $2.00 per gram for the large 458 gram piece. We purchased the material for a reasonable price and will pass the low price on to you, our valued customers. We do not know if additional material is available so if you like impact material, don't  delay ordering.

Kansas impactite.jpg (27998 bytes)

This is our largest specimen of Big Bend impactite. It measures slightly more than 3 and 3/4 by 4 inches (95 by 102 mm) and weighs 458 grams. The price is $916.00.

JUANCHENG, Shandong Province, China, H5
This Olivine-bronzite chondrite created a sensation in China when it fell on 15 February 1997. The Chinese peasants along the Yangtze River near the village of Heze picked up many hundreds of stones shortly after the fall. Because so many were retained by the locals, the total weight of the fall will never be known. Numerous small partial stones with crust,  as well as  slices with crust, from this famous fall are available. Priced at $4.00 per gram for either broken stones or slices, let us know your wants.

Juangcheng with secondary crust.jpg (5219 bytes)

The secondary fusion crust you are looking at on the broken face of this specimen of Juancheng is nearly as rich and black as the exterior of the stone.  The rich black fusion crust covering 99% of the exterior surface is incredible. They don't come any better than this! Weight is 62.1 grams and reasonably priced at $310.00.

MANGWENDI, Zimbabwe, LL6
A beautiful brecciated Amphoterite meteorite which fell on 7 March 1934. Four partial slices with crust along one edge are available in weights of 4.8 grams ($105.60), 16.0 grams ($320.00), 23.1 grams ($462.00), and 42.0 grams ($840.00).

Mangwendi (16.0 gms).jpg (5719 bytes)

This example of Mangwendi weighs 16.0 grams. This meteorite has good contrast within the matrix material and nice metal flecks. This partial slice has fusion crust along the upper edge.
Mangwendi (42.0gms).jpg (18570 bytes) This is the 42.0 gram partial slice of Mangwendi.  It  measures 1 and 3/4 by 3 and 1/2 inches (45 by 89 mm). The long edge is crusted except for one small area at the curve. A beautiful display specimen.

OURIQUE, Beja district, Portugal, H4
Ourique is an Olivine-bronzite chondrite with great brecciation. It has wonderful clasts and a lot of metal flecking within a dark gray matrix. We have three partial slices available, all with one edge of crust, in weights of 17.8 grams ($240.00), 45.6 grams ($615.00), and 55.5 grams ($749.00).

Ourique.jpg (14166 bytes)

This is the 45.6 gram, specimen of Ourique. The long upper edge is fusion crusted. Measurements are 1 and 1/4 by a little over 2 and 1/2 inches (32 by 64 mm).

Ourique 2.jpg (18255 bytes)

This is a photo of the 55.5 gram specimen of Ourique. The upper edge is fusion  crusted. Measurements are 2 an 1/2 by 2 and 1/4 inches (57 by 63 mm).

DJATI-PENGILON, East Java, Indonesia, H6
This Olivine-bronzite chondrite meteorite has a deep dark brown matrix rich with tiny metal flecks. It fell on 19 March 1884 and very little of this material has appeared on the meteorite market. This is a great looking meteorite from an old witnessed fall.

Djati-Pengilon 2.jpg (13945 bytes) This partial slice of Djati-Pengilon weighs 78.1 grams and measures 2 and 1/8 by 3 and 1/4 inches (54 by 84 mm). Priced at just $7.50 per gram ( $585.00), it will make a great addition to any collection! Yes, that is  fusion crust along the upper edge in the picture.

LAKE MURRAY, OKLAHOMA, Coarsest Octahedrite, IIB
Found before 1930, this meteorite was discovered imbedded in the cretaceous Antlers sandstone. In the Handbook of Iron Meteorites, Buchwald states that the undisturbed 30 cm of sand overlaying the meteorite suggested that the meteorite fell in this period. We have numerous pieces of the outer shale which were collected shortly after the find. This material is stable and has been cleaned.

Lake Murray.jpg (8822 bytes) This is an 18 gram piece of the Lake Murray shale. It measures 1 by 2 inches (25 by 50 mm). Each piece is relatively flat so there is a good surface to weight ratio. We have weights ranging from about 6 grams to 75 grams, mostly less than 20 grams. This material is priced at $1.50 per gram so its very inexpensive means of getting this location. Let us know the weight(s) you want.

AHUMADA, Chihuahua, Mexico, Pallasite
A mass of 52.6 kg was found about 60 miles east of Ahumada in 1909. This Pallasite is in the angular olivine shape group. The Peridot contained in this meteorite has a distinct yellow-orange hue. Very little of  this material is available to collectors.

Ahumada.jpg (11637 bytes)

This is a beautiful partial slice which measures 2 and 3/8 inches by 1 and 3/4 inches (60 by 44 mm). The price is $940.00.

 Vaca Muerta, Atacama Desert, Chile

Vaca Muerta end cut.jpg (17873 bytes)

This is an 11.9 gram end cut of Vaca Muerta. The face has been polished. Vaca Muerta is good example of a Mesosiderite, one of the stony-irons. This specimens measures approximately 7/8 inch by 1 inch (22 by 25 mm) and is priced at $53.00.

Sahara 97072, Enstatite chondrite, EH3

Sahara 97072, EH3.jpg (35375 bytes) All Enstatite chondrites are rare, and an EH3 is about as rare as they get. The only EH3 material available to collectors is from the Sahara Dessert. This slice has fantastic chondrules. Fusion crust is evident along the bottom edge and right hand edge as viewed here. The Sahara Desert in Libya has provided the meteorite market with many wonderful examples; this is one of them. This slice weighs 10.3+ grams and is priced at $425.00.

Faucett, Missouri, Olivine-bronzite chondrite, H5

Faucett slice.jpg (108995 bytes) Faucett was found in 1966 and most of the material recovered is in the Smithsonian. This is a beautiful richly metal flecked meteorite. This 1/2 slice weighs 94 grams and has a one large metallic inclusion in it. Priced at only $2.50 per gram ($235.00), Faucett is quite inexpensive.

Huckitta, Australia, Pallasite

Huckitta.jpg (26906 bytes)

Huckitta is a Pallasite. It may  not be as beautiful as Esquel, Imilac, and other well known Pallasites but, in its own way, Huckitta is an attractive meteorite. The nickel-iron has transformed into hematite and the olivine crystals have also turned black. This end cut has a nice polished face and the olivine crystals can be seen  interspersed within the metal. This specimen weighs 153 grams and is priced at $235.00.

Lamont, Kansas, Mesosiderite

Lamont, KS, meso.jpg (61332 bytes) Lamont was found in a fence row in Greenwood County, Kansas, about 1940. It is a metal rich mesosiderite with a near jet black matrix. This partial slice weighs 55.2 grams and measures approximately 1 and 1/2 inches by 2 inches (38 by 50 mm). It is priced at $995.00.
